In 2005, SPG Architects received an order for completion of an unfinished house Casa Torcida on a hill near the coast of Costa Rica. The steel frame and concrete slabs – that’s all what the building at the time of booking. Investments already made a significant amount, and the selected location amazing, so throw begun would be silly. Need a fresh idea to breathe new life into the house.
Designers had to slightly change the configuration of the perimeter to maximize the functionality of the mansion. It should be noted that the surrounding nature was not affected by the architects and the work was done on an already prepared area. In addition, the house is completely self-sufficient in terms of energy and water use. The nearest town is 18 km from this slope, so the communication cost would be very expensive and damaged nature. The mansion has become the largest solar panels in Costa Rica. It is assumed that in the future in the basement of the house will be equipped with a recording studio, but generated enough energy even to maintain it. Incredible, is not it? In the mansion there was no need to install air conditioning because the sea breeze cools much all the rooms in the house. Sliding glass panels in each room is fully opened and drained as if nature inside.
